Welcome back everyone! I hope you had the chance to enjoy some time with your families and are feeling recharged for term 3.
Support Staff Week
Week 5 is Support Staff Week, our chance to recognise the dedicated team who work tirelessly behind the scenes and alongside staff and students to help our school run smoothly.
From classroom support, administration and IT, to the library, grounds and student wellbeing, our support staff play a vital role in creating the high-quality learning environment our students deserve. Their efforts often go unseen, but they are deeply valued.
We acknowledge and appreciate: Anna Burr, Ashlea James, Brendan Rowe, Carli Burnnard, Charlie Cornelius, Chloe Rudd, Dani Coombs, Daniel Giles, Evan McAllister, Jo Catalano, Karen Steed, Karina Lambert, Kerrie Pyers, Kyla Wade, Leanne Weigall, Mari Mouton, Maria Dowzard, Nikki Foster, Samuel Taylor, Sasha Morgan, Sharen Vasey, Sonja Modlinski, Stacey Lambert, Suman Kaur, Tegan Smith, Toby Johnson, Tom Gregurec, Travis Coombs, and Uncle Barney.
On behalf of the entire Renmark High School community, thank you for everything you do.
Subject Selections for 2026
Following our Subject Information and Planning Night last night, subject selection interviews for years 9, 10 and 11 begin next week.
These interviews are an important opportunity for students to make informed decisions about their learning pathway. We strongly encourage parents and caregivers to attend and support their child through this process. It’s also a valuable moment to connect with staff and ensure choices align with student goals.
Subject selections guide our planning for 2026, including staffing and timetabling. Students are more likely to secure their preferred subjects when they engage thoughtfully with this process and submit choices on time. If necessary, we will use reserve preferences so list them in preferred order.
Parent Survey – Have Your Say
The Department for Education’s annual parent survey is now open and provides valuable insights into how families engage with their child’s learning. Invitations have been emailed directly to parents and caregivers from the department. We encourage all parents and caregivers to complete the survey, whether you’d like to suggest improvements or highlight the things you value most about our school. Your feedback helps us recognise what matters most to families and ensures we continue doing the things you value and appreciate.
Your input supports our commitment to Respect, Connect, and Achieve—helping us reflect on our strengths and shape meaningful improvements.
2025 NAPLAN Results
NAPLAN results for year 7 and year 9 students are being sent home. If you would like support in understanding your child’s results or what they mean for their learning progress, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re here to help.

Senior Supervised Study
Following positive results from year 11 students last semester, students can now use supervised study lessons as Home Study. Parents and caregivers have now signed an Edsmart form that was released in the July school holidays, which has been documented to grant permission each time your child signs in or out for Home Study. This is only at the beginning or the end of the school day. We will monitor progress to ensure effective use of time. This privilege can be withdrawn if necessary. Year 11 students are expected to attend Care Group at 11.00am daily.
Flinders University - Inspire Change
Flinders University offers the Inspire Change mentoring program, with 24 year 12 students participating. Mentors provide study support and discuss university entry and pathways. This program strengthens links for rural students, and Flinders University covers SATAC fees for participants.

Division 2 State Volleyball Winners
Congratulations to our volleyball champions! The year 9 and 10 Statewide School Volleyball Finals took place on 26 June in Adelaide, where Renmark High School's year 10 girls volleyball team achieved a remarkable victory by securing the Division 2 title. They took home first place in the School Sports SA State volleyball competition, beating 60 schools across the state.
The team is now preparing for the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup, which will be held on the Gold Coast in December. Student and teammate Gemma expressed confidence in the team's potential, stating, "Because we have been playing together since we were in year 7, we've grown to know each other's skills and what we are all good and not so good at, which helps support the team overall."
A special thank you to Mr Lindner for his exceptional coaching and support. Well done to everyone involved in this fantastic achievement!

Year 8 PE - Community Volunteering

A big thank you to our students for their hard work and community spirit!

At the end of term 2, Mr Clark's Advanced PE students ventured to Adelaide for two days filled with highly engaging activities. This year's activities included the Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty hike, go karts, laser skirmish, Latitude, and downhill mountain bike riding. Students enjoyed a dynamic and adventurous experience, enhancing their physical skills and teamwork.
Year 10 PE - Strength Training

Mr Clark’s year 10 Physical Education class has been visiting the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre during their double lessons to participate in a strength and conditioning program. They have represented our school values of respect, connect and achieve excellently and will hopefully adopt life-long active lifestyles.
Year 12 English - Restaurant Review

On Tuesday 24June, Mr Clark's year 12 Essential English class visited the Renmark Club for lunch. Students were required to sample items from their menu and take notes in preparation to write a restaurant review. Their review will evaluate their experience and focus primarily on the establishment, their meal, the décor and the service they received.

Miss Coombe's year 9 students have been refining their presentation skills in Food Technology by crafting burger buns and patties from scratch. This hands-on experience not only enhanced their culinary skills but also boosted their confidence in presenting their creations.
Year 8 Technology classes have been busy crafting personalised marshmallow sticks and skewers. After completing this task, students ventured to our Renmark High School Pindelun Yiti (fire pit) to test their creations by toasting marshmallows, accompanied by a hot chocolate.
Kelli Hersey
Design and Technologies Teacher

Year 8 students are currently exploring energy this term in Science. Last Wednesday, Mrs Dunn’s and Ms Blanden’s class used the schools STELR kits; STEM equipment designed to allow students hands-on experiences with renewable energy technology. The students investigated sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and battery power, and how each transfer and transform energy. Mr Branford’s year 11 (Stage 1) Physics class also joined in and helped set up a number of stations and explain the results to the junior classes.

New Regulations - Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Areas
From 1 March 2024 new regulations will extend the smoke-free and vape-free areas to within 10 metres of site boundaries.
This includes:
- school drop-off and pick-up zones that are within 10 metres of the school fence, gate or boundary
- school ovals and sporting fields and within 10 metres of the boundary of the oval or sporting field
- footpaths, roads, public nature strips and public recreation areas that are within 10 metres of a school boundary.
E-cigarettes
E-cigarettes, or ‘vapes’, are not safe for young people. They come in many shapes and sizes and can be hard to spot as they can look like everyday items including highlighters, pens, USB memory sticks or watches.
Key vaping facts
- Many e-cigarettes contain nicotine despite being labelled as not. Nicotine can cause long-lasting negative effects on young people’s brain development, including impaired learning ability and altered mood, and can increase the risk of depression and anxiety.
- E-cigarettes can contain the same harmful chemicals found in cleaning products, nail polish remover, weed killer and bug spray, which can lead to serious lung diseases.
- Young people who vape are three times as likely to take up smoking cigarettes.
- E-cigarettes are harmful to the environment as they contain single-use plastics and lithium batteries, cause pollution and can start fires.
The laws around selling e-cigarettes
It’s illegal to sell or supply e-cigarettes to anyone under the age of 18 years. Young people often purchase vapes online, from retail stores, or from friends and contacts on social media. There are a number of retailers who sell e-cigarettes to young people. This is a crime.
Talk to your child about vaping
It’s important to take the time to talk to your child about the risks of vaping. Try to start the conversation in a relaxed easy-going way, and remember your goal is to have a conversation, not deliver a lecture. Parenting SA provides a Parent Easy Guide on talking with children and young people about drugs and alcohol – visit parenting.sa.gov.au.
Get the evidence and facts about vaping at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/vaping.

Holiday Swim is a Royal Life Saving Society South Australia initiative bringing affordable and educational swimming and water safety lessons to pools and inland waterway locations across Metro and Regional South Australia since the 1950’s. The aim of the program is to teach children critical life saving skills and basic swimming skills, to equip them with the knowledge to stay safe in, on and around the water.
The aim of keeping the program affordable, is to reach families and communities that might otherwise miss out on the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons, and as we approach the busy Summer months now is the time to equip them with the knowledge to save a life.
