Joe Dix Memorial Lecture

We recently hosted the annual Joe Dix Memorial Lecture at the Chaffey Theatre in Renmark. The memorial lecture is held in honour of Joe Dix, an innovator and proprietor of the GJ Dix and Sons foundry. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Renmark, where the aim of the lecture is to help encourage, motivate and inspire students as they transition into their final years of school.
This year's presentation featured guest speaker Kane Pedler, a former Renmark High School student who shared his journey from growing up in the Riverland to pursuing his football dream in Adelaide. Despite setbacks from injury and surgeries, he shifted his focus to a new career path, completing a school-based apprenticeship in Turf Management. His career took him to America, where he worked as a greenskeeper meeting presidents and celebrities from around the world.
Now back in Renmark, Kane serves as the Operations Manager for Costa Group. His story of resilience and adaptability inspired our students, showing that anything is possible, regardless of the challenges faced. We thank Kane for his time and passion in sharing his story, encouraging our students to pursue their dreams with determination and confidence.
A special thank you to Matt Stephens and David Crouch of the Rotary Club of Renmark for their contributions, and Marina Pater for organising the event. We extend our gratitude to the Rotary Club of Renmark for their continued generous sponsorship.
