Students representing Renmark High School have been recognised for excellence in all three of the competitions run by the South Australian French Teachers’ Association (SAFTA) in 2023. At the annual prize giving night, the ‘Distribution Des Prix’ held last week at St Peter’s College, in Adelaide, Renmark High School featured throughout the evening.

French Video, ‘Le Tik Tok’ Competition
The winners of the SA French video competition, ‘Le Tik Tok’ 2023 were Anja T and Sarsho E. Open to students in years 8-10, their challenge this year was to create a 30-60 second video under the guise of ‘how to do something’ in French. Students were judged based on their creativity of ideas, fluency, editing, and presentation of their videos, but crucially, the accuracy of language. Renmark High School placed first ahead of Trinity College Gawler River, Emmaus Christian College and Pembroke School.

The Poetry Recital Competition
In the Concours de Poésie Récitée (the Poetry Recital Competition), year 7 students, Sarsho E and Levi C paired up to memorise and record their version of the French poem, ‘A Aurore’. First time entrants, the pair were acknowledged for their performance, receiving a certificate of Mention Très Bien (Special Mention).

The Best Year 6 or 7 Prize
In the Concours de Meilleur Élève de 6ème ou 7ème (the Best Year 6 or 7 Prize), year 7 student, Sarsho E, was one of ten students in South Australia whose ‘Letter to the President’ was selected. In his letter, Sarsho was required to introduce himself and his family, as well as provide details about other aspects of his life.

A special congratulations to Sarsho E, as he is the first student in the competition’s history to win in all three competitions.

Finally, Anja T was invited once again to perform in French, as the musical interlude. This year, she performed Edith Piaf’s, ‘La vie en rose’ which was well received.

Congratulations to our students for their success in these competitions representing Renmark High School.
