ANZAC Spirit Prize Study Tour - Vietnam

Year 11 Renmark High School student and South Australian Premier's ANZAC Spirit Prize winner Stephen F has just returned from his 14 day study tour of Vietnam.
During the 14 days, Stephen and 19 other students travelled to a number of major cities including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hoi An and Hue. Stephen was able to visit and learn about important historical and cultural sites such as Long Tan, Vung Tau, Nui Dat, the Reunification Palace, Ha Long Bay, Bien Duoc, Red Beach, Binh Ba, Da Nang, the Royal Tombs, the Hue Citadel, the Water Puppet Show, "Hanoi Hilton" prison, the One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh's home and much more.
Stephen was lucky enough to participate in an art class, eat a variety of local food - including frog's legs, descend into the Cu Chi Tunnels, give gifts at a local orphanage, lay a wreath at Long Tan and most significantly, deliver a speech of remembrance honouring the service of former Renmark High School student Allan Moss who was killed in Vietnam in 1970, serving Australia.
Stephen explained that; "It was an honour to represent RHS and the state for 14 days in Vietnam.I have learned so much in the 14 days and made some incredible, lifelong friends. I loved the ANZAC Day service in Hanoi, the Long Tan visit and learning about Vietnamese culture the most. However, being able to communicate with Allan Moss' family before going to Vietnam and learning about them and Allan and then being able to give a speech honouring Allan's service was the most moving thing I have done in my life. I just want to thank Premier Peter Malinauskas for supporting this program, Aaron for organising the tour, all of the staff that came along and supported us, all of my new student friends on the tour and Renmark High School for providing me with this opportunity."
