Renmark High School

ANZAC Spirit Prize

Renmark High School students Angus and Kieran were very lucky on Monday to meet with Roger and Megan Lill, son and granddaughter of former Renmark High School student and Second World War veteran, John Lill.

Angus and Kieran are preparing entries for the 2024 Premier's ANZAC Spirit Prize and the focus of their essays is John Lill. John fought in the Battle of Singapore, before being captured by the Japanese and spending 3 and a half years as a POW. Remarkably, John survived, returned to Renmark and lived to the age of 95. Roger and Megan kindly spent some time with Angus, Kieran and Mr Files today, sharing stories about John's life and helping them understand his life and what he stood for a little better. For the students and Mr Files it was a truly amazing experience to learn even more about a former Renmark High School student and a great Australian.

Renmark High School would like to thank Roger and Megan very much for their time and extremely valuable information they shared. We would also like to once again thank John and the Lill family for the service they have given Australia.
