Year 9 Over-The-Top Soap Opera Performances

On Thursday 6 March, our talented Year 9 Drama students took to the stage with their brilliantly exaggerated soap opera performances for a highly entertained Year 8 audience.
Throughout the term, students explored the classic elements of soap operas, including:
- Stock characters – the dramatic villain, the heartbroken hero, the rebellious teen
- Over-the-top plotlines – full of shocking twists and cliffhanger endings
- Humour and exaggeration – from dramatic pauses to larger-than-life facial expressions.
Both plays were exceptionally well-prepared and performed with confidence, enthusiasm, and a flair for the dramatic.
I enjoyed how we were able to have multiple plotlines and how our scenes weren’t realistic. I learnt how to do a soap opera and how to add dramatic pauses. - Darci
I enjoyed making our play then seeing it all come together at the end. - Tia
I enjoyed working with people I don’t normally work with. I learnt how to do quick costumes changes and all about soap operas. - Summer
A huge congratulations to our Year 9 students for their hard work and dedication.
