Renmark High School

Science and Engineering Challenge

Mr Young along with a team of keen year 9 and 10 students recently attended the Science and Engineering Challenge, run by the University of Newcastle held at Waikerie High School.
They competed against 5 other high schools in a range of STEM activities including building bridges, constructing and flying a balsa wood plane, creating fish traps, designing a wind turbine, creating an electricity network for a town and building an eco house to a brief.
The purpose of the competition is to provide students with an opportunity to try a range of skills needed for STEM based careers in the hope they will continue to study STEM subjects in senior school and university. Our students performed extremely well, demonstrating our school values of respect, connect and achieve.
