Electrofishing

First Nations students from Renmark High School attended a Riverland Electrofishing Demonstration Day at Apex park in Loxton recently.
The day was sponsored and coordinated with River Murray Mallee Aboriginal Corporation (RMMAC), South Australian Research and Development Institute – SARDI (Aquatic Sciences) and the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal Corporation (NAC). Students were involved in a Fyke fishing demonstration with year 8 student, Mason B participating in the demonstration.
A highlight of the day was a trip along the river on a pontoon to meet with the electrofishing boat viewing a very strong Pondi (Murray Cod) and healthy Pilarki (Callop, golden perch) for monitoring and release.
