Students studying year 8-12 English are regularly engaged in skills- based learning. This involves independent reading where students are reading to themselves or to their teacher on a regular basis. English teachers specifically target vocabulary and spelling words that relate to the learning of the text(s) being studied in class. Low stakes writing is also a skill that English students are working on during their lessons. Challenging your ability to write with accuracy, fluency and improving lesson after lesson are goals and expectations set by teachers and students. This skills based supports the units of work being studied in class and the skills are transferable to all subjects studied.
