FIRST AID TRAINING

As part of the Stage 2 Outdoor Education course students and some staff completed a First Aid Course and will receive a certificate for their efforts. The course involved completing an online component which involved viewing a number of scenarios followed by an exam, before completing the practical component today. During the practical assessment participants were required to display their understanding and confidence in treating a variety of scenarios, which include:
  • Snake bites - Sprains and fractures
  • Severe asthma - Embedded objects
  • Recovery position - Using a Defibrillator
  • CPR - Choking
  • Allergic reactions (EpiPen)

Overall it was a valuable experience which will benefit everyone involved and we thank Peter and Ben Brown from First Aid SA for assisting us through the training.

Aaron Camplin - Health & Pysical Education Coordinator
