At the end of last term Year 10 designers have been given a brief by Mrs Farrelly, the Senior Leader of Numeracy and Science Innovation as well as a teacher of Chemistry and Science, to create an illustration based on a science-related topic. Students reflected and brainstormed some topics they learned about in Science, finally choosing a topic they would like to illustrate. DNA structure, SARS-CoV-2, mitosis, solar system, egg structure as well as organs such as heart and brain were some topics students chose to illustrate. This task has enabled students to further explore Adobe Illustrator and build on their existing skill set, deconstruct visual components of an illustration as well as express their creativity in illustrating a chosen topic. Mrs Farrelly was thoroughly impressed and is looking forward to displaying these illustrations around the STEM space.
