YEAR 9 VOLLEYBALL- SEPEP 2021
SEPEP stands for Sports Education in Physical Education Program. This program is constructed around a student-centred approach to physical education. This is where teachers take a step back and allow their students to be accountable and to enhance their learning through establishing good working environments through working together and collaborate on the roles and responsibilities involved.
As a student doing SEPEP, we were put into groups or 6/7 people and had to participate in different roles, such as umpire, statistician, coaches, captains, sports board, and publicist. We had to design our team name, motto, and training sessions. In the first couple of sessions we worked on positioning and figured out areas that needed attention. We tailored our team’s training to address our weaknesses, and began applying our training in our competition.
The competition consisted of a range of minor round games and concluded with a final series where the Humpty Dumpties were crowned the overall champions.
We thoroughly enjoyed SEPEP as it taught us the responsibility needed to lead our own teams and organise and run a competition.
