YEAR 7 MUSIC
Music & Maths
Our Year 7s have shown some their ability to read music notes with the help of their mathematical skills. In our Tuesday’s class, students learnt the four types of notes we use to read music, and their length value. Students were keen to observe that the notes grew smaller in length when divided by half. They made note pyramids from card to help visualise this concept and when our in-class competition took place, students were able to arrange these notes in various combinations to equal the number 4: the length of a 4/4 bar of music.
