YEAR 7 MUSIC
Year 7 Music – conductor workshop
Our year 7 Music class worked with instrumental teacher Miss Roberts on their conductor skills. Students learnt how to be a conductor, how to control the beat and tempo of an orchestra (of students) and raise and lower the volume while keeping a beat. Below are some student experiences of this workshop:
“It was good to be a conductor because I was out the front teaching people. I went okay and was able to change the volume to low and high when I raised my hands.” -Katerina C.
“It was easy to learn the conducting skills when it was only one hand. When I had to use two it was more difficult because I had to do it at the same time.” -Declan B.
“I liked learning to be a conductor because I felt like I was a teacher, and I could teach the class. I felt important when I could control the class and people had to follow along.” -Ali U.
“It was intimidating being a conductor because I had to control everyone. I had to make sure that everyone was listening to me and understood what I asked them to do.” -Jemma O.
