Renmark High School

PRINCIPAL'S ADDRESS

Welcome back for term 2.  It has got cold quickly but that is to be expected as we move into winter.  We are very happy to have our new air-conditioning across the school which means no more cold classrooms when it is freezing outside!

With our transition processes already underway a special welcome to our year 6 visitors next week, and in many cases new families to the Renmark High School Community.  If you have any questions about this process or about starting High School next year please contact us.

Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to the students who were presented with awards at our recent ceremony. It was terrific to be able to recognise students for their effort and achievement for term 1.

Parent interviews

Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who attended the parent, teacher, and student interviews recently.  These are an excellent opportunity to discuss student success, what are the areas of growth and where to next.  Please remember you can also contact teachers through DAYMAP or leave a message at the front office.

Fire Pit Opening

In week one we had families and invited guests on the RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) committee for the opening of our fire pit at the front of the school.  The fire pit area is designed to be a welcoming feature just inside our front entrance.  It features a tree and river design in the concrete, surrounded by logs and rocks to sit on. It was great to see some families in an informal setting to continue our building of connection and belonging in our school.

 Dame Roma awards

We have the pleasure of having not one but two Dome Roma Mitchell Award recipients for this year.  Congratulations to Lachlan Goody and Alan Garbutt who will be presented with their awards at a ceremony in Adelaide this Friday.

Selection for the award is based on the following application criteria and a series of indicators for each:

  • Student’s capacity to complete SACE: level of achievement; consistency; attendance; skill improvement
  • School / community support: role models/leadership; representation on committees; commitment to the community; community supportiveness
  • Career aspirations: goal setting; evidence of use of initiative; presentation/communication skills evident in writing and
  • Significance of the scholarship: evidence of usefulness and need

Well done Lachlan and Alan, a well-deserved recognition of your efforts into your schooling!
